Rory and Whitney
We are Rory, Whitney, and James Rhett (5). Rory is an accounting manager for a national telemed company. He is a tireless worker and wants everyone to have great experiences. Whitney is a pharmacist and works as a Medication Safety Manager for a Government Hospital. She is the planner and researcher. Everyone enjoys the fruits of her planning when we do activities and trips. Whitney also loves to bake and make wonderful cakes.
We met in college while out line dancing in 2008 and started dating in the Spring of 2008. We tied the knot in the summer of 2010. Whitney comes from a large family and we knew we wanted children, but with Whitney’s Pharmacy school and Residency training we took a couple of years to do some traveling and hobbies before starting a family. In 2017, we had our sweet and active little boy James Rhett. He can go from wanting to play and swim all day and then will love to quietly color at his table. He loves other children and always wants to hold any of his baby cousins or our friend’s babies. He desperately wants to be a big brother and asks us constantly when we will be getting a baby brother or sister.
We love to spend time as a family. This includes game nights where James Rhett loves to drop “fun cards” in Uno or get the candy cards in Candyland. He also keeps up with who has won the most games. We also love to be outdoors and enjoy several hikes in our area and most long weekends will get away for a camping trip. We are lucky to live close to many of Whitney’s extended family who all have children close in age to James Rhett, they love to join us on most of our long weekends. As we mentioned we love to travel and make memories. Our world and country have so many cultures to experience, landscapes to see and great food to experience. We want our children to also enjoy the excitement and beauty of many different places.
We felt called to grow our family through adoption from early on in our marriage. We still feel called to grow our family and know we can be a loving and caring home for a child. We love spending time with friends and family and believe that it takes a village. We have been blessed with a fun, caring, and even a little bit crazy village. We will never be perfect, but we will make every decision with the best intentions and love for our children. We know you are making an incredibly difficult decision in considering adoption and want you to know that no matter the decision you choose, we want the best for you and your precious one.
